THE AUTHOR

If you haven’t met Him yet, I want to introduce you to The Author.

Jesus is the author and finisher of life itself. He is the one that literally hung the moon and stars in the sky. Christians have the priceless privilege of looking to Jesus as our leader.  Something cool to point out, the Greek word translated “author” is the same one translated “captain” in Hebrews 2:10, referring to Him the captain of our salvation, the One who guides us, pioneers and leads us through the unchartered waters of life’s stormy seas. Jesus specializes in both creation and restoration, and if you let him He will create a master work in your life.

Today we see so many descriptions of Jesus. Some describe Him as a teacher, or as a prophet. Some feel He was just a historical figure.  Countless people  have received Him as their one true Savior. So who is Jesus really? When I get asked that in discussions about Jesus I always point to the book of John:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”  John 1:1-5

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Jesus is “the Light” and no matter what darkness you are facing He will overcome it for you. All you have to do is trust Him, trust Him with your story. The most important decision you will ever make is when you know your heart is colliding with the Presence of Jesus, and you cannot live another minute without Him. Do you know The Author?  Maybe you asked Him into your heart in the past, but you’re feeling disconnected from Him, and now its time to get sincere. In that place of humility, ask Him to meet you right where you’re at, in the pain, in the mangled mess of your reality. He wants to give you fresh hope and redeem your story. Or maybe its time to ask Him in total, splayed out honesty to forgive you for the casualties, the recklessness, the pain you’ve been responsible for…to forgive you.  To heal you.

So today give him your broken roads, your dead ends, your messy meanderings.  Give him your staggering shame, blinding failure, His glory on you will eclipse the former!  His goodness toward you will astound you!  Its time to turn the page, and move on from where you’ve been.  Your Story Is Not Done. This is your time to meet The Author of your faith.

I invite you to say this prayer:

“Father, I come to you as I am. I recognize how my sin has separated me from you. Please forgive me... I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to be- come the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. I don’t want to do this without You anymore. I acknowledge that You have already provided everything my heart needs to be met through Your Holy Spirit. I commit the rest of my life to You, Jesus. It’s in Your name I pray, Amen."
